The death occurred peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Thursday, July 14, 2022 of Vernon James MacDonald of Charlottetown, formerly of Green Meadows, aged 59. Dear brother of Cory MacDonald (Tracy), special uncle to Natalie and Paige MacDonald, nephew of Ruth (Robert) Crane, and cousin of Mary MacInnis and Ann, Kevin, Allan and Keith MacDonald. Vernon was predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Doris MacDonald, grandparents, Alfred and Eileen Donnelly and Vernon and Margaret MacDonald, aunt, Joan (Walter) MacDonald and uncle, Keith MacDonald. Prior to his MS diagnosis, Vernon could be found at Red Shores Racetrack or cheering on his nieces at the rink or ball field. Resting at North Shore Funeral Home, Morell for visitation on Sunday, July 17, 5 – 8 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at St. Lawrence O’Toole Roman Catholic Church, Green Meadows, on Monday, July 18 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the MS Society would be appreciated. Special thanks to the Staff at Corrigan Home and in ICU and Unit 2 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for the kindness and compassion that they have shown to Vernon. The funeral for the late Vernon MacDonald was held on Monday, July 18, 2022, at St Lawrence O’Toole Roman Catholic Church, Green Meadows, with Father Danny Wilson officiating. The Pall was placed by Cory and Tracy MacDonald. The first reading was read by Tracy MacDonald, while Ronota Baglole proclaimed the second reading. Gail MacDonald offered the prayers of intercession. Father Danny Wilson read the gospel and delivered the homily. The pallbearers consisted of Andrew Heggie, Joe Gallant, Anthony O’Brien, Larry Runighan, Bobby O’Brien, and Kevin MacDonald. Honorary pallbearers were everyone in attendance. Flower Bearers were Natalie MacDonald and Paige MacDonald. Music was provided by Larry Phelan singing, Processional, Be Not Afraid; Psalm, Rest in God Alone; Preparation of gifts, Prayer of St. Francis; Communion, In the Garden; Incensing, Songs of the Angels; and Recessional, How Great Thou Art. Interment was in the parish cemetery. The funeral was under the direction of North Shore Funeral Home, Morell.
