Committal and burial Saturday 11:am October 23rd. 2021
Teresa Alice Doyle (née McQuaid), at 81 years of age, left us on February 25th of this year. Passing away peacefully within sight of where she was born at Ten Mile House, PEI. She departed this world from her home to join her husband Bill. During her life, Teresa was a natural teacher, who taught first in PEI and later in Dartmouth, NS. She enjoyed her work helping young ones develop. Often instructing her students along with the subject matter, in her beautiful attitude in life. She was known for her love of children, her gift of gab underscored by her positive spirit. A spirit that often saw her summing up even difficult situations with a whimsical remark that displayed her pleasant humor. These were all qualities she offered us as a loving mother and wife, supportive relative and warm friend. Through her words and actions, she taught a lot of people a lot of important things in life, and most of those lessons happened outside of a classroom.
Teresa is survived and her memory is cherished by her children Troy (Yoko) and Leanne (Mark), granddaughter (Madison / Maddie), brothers Joe (Catherine), John (Avril) and sister Diane Doiron (Roger), Sister-in-law Judy Sheehan (Leo) and many cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and countless friends. Predeceased by her loving husband William (Bill), brothers Earl, Pat, and Maurice, her parents Bernard and Ethel McQuaid.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at PEI Palliative Care -home care program for their excellent support attending to her physical needs and Fr. Gerard Chiasson for his spiritual guidance in her final days. In addition, we wish to thank all the people who dropped by, keeping her company and playing an important role in allowing her to go with grace and dignity.
As one of her final teaching assignments, Teresa became a casual spokesperson for Craig’s Cause about her personal and courageous journey of surviving pancreatic cancer, a journey that lasted over 11 years before she finally succumbed to that disease. In her spirit of giving, the family asks in lieu of any flowers or cards, to please consider making a donation to Craig’s Cause: www.craigscause.ca
Her funeral took place promptly under strict covid regulations at the time. Without knowing the ever-changing status of COVID-19 protocols her committal and burial was postponed until Saturday 11:am October 23rd. 2021 at St. Bonaventure Church Cemetery, Tracadie Cross, PEI, where her ashes will be interned beside her husband forever. To those who choose to attend, the family asks for you to follow current covid protocols. A small, private family gathering will follow in Charlottetown afterwards.
Arrangements are being made for a memorial mass / event in Nova Scotia for November.
