The family of Sheila Jeanne Murphy (nee MacEwen), of Morell, wish to announce her passing at the age of 75 while a patient at the Souris Hospital on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. Sheila left us after a long but courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Emmett Murphy, a mere 16 days prior to her death. She will be forever loved by her daughters, Sheri MacKenzie (Darren), and Lori Murphy-Hume (Mark), and her son, Gordie Murphy (Judy): her grandchildren, Avery MacKenzie, Connor MacKenzie, Patrick MacKenzie, Kyle Murphy(Melissa), Gabriel Murphy and Chisholm Murphy. She will also be fondly remembered by her sisters Marion MacPhee (Allan) and Jean Anderson, as well as her sister-in-law Ferne MacEwen, brother-in-law Sinnott Mullally and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Gordon and Bertha MacEwen; by her sisters Judy Squires, Brenda MacKenzie; and brothers Raymond MacEwen and Roger MacEwen. Sheila’s family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the doctors and staff at the Cancer Treatment Centre, the QEH and especially to Dr. Malone and the nurses and staff at the Souris Hospital. Your care and compassion during this difficult time have made this journey a little less difficult. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the North Shore Funeral Home in Morell with visitation to be held at the funeral home between 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2023. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Interment to follow in St. Theresa, The Little Flower Roman Catholic Church Cemetery, Morell. In lieu of flowers, donations to the P.E.I. Humane Society, the Souris Hospital Foundation or the Morell Lions Club would be greatly appreciated. The funeral service for the Late Sheila Jeanne Murphy was held at North Shore Funeral Home, Morell on May 22, 2023. His daughter, Sheri MacKenzie delivered the eulogy. Music was provided by Jacinta MacDonald singing The Rose, A Mother’s Love is a Blessing and Hallelujah, That’s My Mom (sung by Eddie Quinn) , and Jealous of the Angels (sung by Donna Taggart). His daughter-in-law, Judy Murphy read a poem “Your Mother is Always With You.” Father Brian MacDougall delivered the Benediction. Interment took place in St. Theresa, The Little Flower Roman Catholic Cemetery in Morell.
