Sharon Anne Dunn Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear, sweet mother. Sharon Anne Dunn (nee Murphy) passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2021 following a heroic battle with cancer including a brief but caring stay at Souris Hospital. Sharon was the saintly spouse of 52 years to the late Kenneth “Trixie” Dunn. Lovingly known as mom to nine of her own. Patty (Peter) van Diepen, Greg, Lefty (Edith), Tracey (Mike) Smith, Jennifer (Brent) Doxtater, Chris (Sara MacLeod), Rosie (Kevin Ryan), D.J. (Jenny), and Jonathan (Jovanna). Surrogate mother to many of her children’s friends and community members. Grandmother to 23 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Cherished daughter of the late Merrill and Helen Murphy. Beloved sister of Doreen (Norman – deceased), Elaine (Tom – deceased) Trainor, Blair – deceased, Arlene (Melvin – deceased) Johnston, Brian – deceased, Paula (Gary) Drake, Linda (Wayne) Beaton, Patsy (Blair – deceased) MacKinnon, Joseph (Georgie), Arnold – deceased, John (Elizabeth), and Rose (Blaine) Cheverie. Treasured sister-in-law of Sr. Gemma Dunn, Cletus (Linda) Dunn, Colette (Paul – deceased) Hatton, Andrea (Gerald) McCarthy, Patrice (Donald) MacDonald, Helene (Kerry) Moore, and Francie (Doug – deceased) MacDougall. Resting at North Shore Funeral Home, Morell where visitation will take place by invitation only. Funeral mass to be held August 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresa, The Little Flower Roman Catholic Church, Morell. Interment to follow in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Sharon’s memory to St. Theresa, The Little Flower Roman Catholic Church Cemetery Fund, or to North Shore Funeral Cooperative by etransfer to northshorefuneralhome@gmail.com. She was the consummate hostess – quick to have the tea pot bubbling and an extra plate on the table. Sharon warmly welcomed everyone with a smile and a laugh. She loved her grandchildren/great grandchildren and their frequent visits. Sharon was blessed to have so many of her family around her. She was a lady of faith who led by an unassuming example. She was the hub of her large family, the queen of the clan. Mom will be dearly missed.

 

The funeral mass for the late Sharon Anne Dunn (nee Murphy) was held on Monday, August 16, 2021 at St. Theresa, The Little Flower Roman Catholic Church, Morell, with Father Brian MacDougall officiating. The Altar Server was David MacAdam. Placing the Pall were Patty van Diepen, Tracey Smith, Jennifer Doxtater, and Rosie Dunn. The first reading was read by John Murphy, while Cheryl Ferguson Doyle proclaimed the second reading. Cletus Dunn offered the prayers of intercession. Father MacDougall read the gospel and delivered the homily. Honorary pallbearers were everyone in attendance. Pallbearers consisted of Greg Dunn, DJ Dunn, Lefty Dunn, Jon Dunn, Chris Dunn and Joseph Murphy. Flower bearers were Laura Nicholson, Harley Dunn, Shelby Doxtater, Bethany Cheeseman, Boston Doxtater, Hannah Dunn, KJ Dunn, Carson van Diepen, Kaitlin Quinn, Lucas Dunn, Lauren Smith, Brian Dunn, Julia Smith, Greta van Diepen, Emilee Dunn, Sara Dunn, Martha van Diepen, Aiden Dunn, Rylan Dunn, Rehmedy Dunn, Maggie Dunn, Myles Dunn and Rehtacha Dunn. Eucharistic minister was Rose Murphy-Cheverie. Music was provided by Jacinta MacDonald singing, Processional, Come to the Water; Offertory, Hail Mary, Gentle Woman; Communion, In the Garden; Meditation, I watched the Sunrise; Incensing, May the Lord Bless You and Keep You; and the Recessional, How Great Thou Art. Interment took place in the parish cemetery. During the graveside service, Linda Dunn sang A Mother’s Love is a Blessing. The funeral was under the direction of North Shore Funeral Home, Morell.
