Rose Trainor (nee McKenna) Obituary

The death occurred peacefully at Beach Grove Home in Charlottetown on January 14, 2024 of Rose Trainor (nee McKenna), formerly of St. Teresa aged 89 years. Survived by her children, Geraldine Hughes (Paul), Michael Trainor (Maureen), Sharon Trainor, David Trainor (Katrina), and Lisa Trainor. Loving Mama Rose to her grandchildren, Rachel, Emily, and Amanda Hughes; Nathan, Ava, Mollie and Anna Trainor; and Samantha and Colby MacLean. She will be also dearly missed by her sister-in-law, Marjorie Gillan as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Gerard; her parents, Wilfred and Doretta McKenna; and siblings, Mary, James, Margaret, Andrew, Joan, Alice and Harry. Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home (2 Hollis Ave, Stratford) for visitation on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 4 -7 p.m. Funeral mass to be held at St. Cuthbert’s Roman Catholic Church, St. Teresa, on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. Interment in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Rose’s memory may be made to Alzheimer Society of PEI.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to North Shore Funeral Home, Morell.


The funeral for the late Rose Trainor was held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at St. Cuthbert’s Roman Catholic Church, St. Teresa, with Father Danny Wilson officiating. Placing the Pall were David and Michael Trainor. The first reading was read by Mollie Trainor, while Samantha MacLean proclaimed the second reading. Rachel Hughes offered the prayers of intercession. Father Wilson read the gospel and delivered the homily. The Pallbearers were Barry Gillan, Kenny Gillan, Doug MacEwen, Colby MacLean, Eddie Butts and Paul Hughes. Honorary Pallbearers were everyone in attendance. Flower Bearers consisted of Emily Hughes, Anna Trainor, Amanda Hughes, Linda Connolly, Cheryl Hawe, Nancy Genesky and Maureen Weber. Eucharistic minister was Maureen MacEwen. Linda and Gary Young passed out the funeral bulletins. Music was provided by St. Cuthbert’;s church choir under the direction of Mary Trainor and organist Michelle MacDonald singing, Processional, Be Not Afraid; Psalm, The Lord is My Shepherd; Preparation of gifts, Isaiah 49; Communion, How Great Thou Art; Meditation, Hail Mary, Gentle Woman; Incensing, Songs of the Angels; and Recessional, Amazing Grace. Interment took place in the parish cemetery. The funeral was under the direction of North Shore Funeral Home, Morell.
