The death occurred peacefully at the Souris Hospital, with family by his side, on Thursday, July 14, 2022, of Ned Crossman of St. Peter’s Bay, PEI, aged 79. Beloved husband of Judy (nee Gallant). Loving father of Bonnie (Gerry) MacAulay, Gerard (Betty), Wally, Scott (Julie), and Darren (Susan Arsenault). Dear grandfather of Glen MacAulay (Katie Campbell), Joey (Melanie) Crossman and Cassie (Curtis) MacKenzie; great-grandfather of Alex and Porter MacAulay, Addison Crossman, and Amy and Jake MacKenzie. Also survived by sister, Terry Murphy, brother, Don Crossman (Teresa Anhorn), brothers- and sisters-in-law, Henry (Kathy) Gallant, Stephen (Cindy) Gallant, and Victor (Janice) Penney, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ned was predeceased by his parents, Leverette and Emma Crossman, brother Melvin in infancy, brothers- and sisters-in-law, Francis Murphy, Charlie (Marg) Gallant, and Jane Kirkland. Ned was known far and wide as a bus driver extraordinaire, a job he enjoyed immensely, whether he was driving a school bus, a tour bus, or any type of charter. Resting at the Dr. Roddie Centre, St. Peter’s Bay, for visitation on Monday, July 18, 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, on Tuesday, July 19 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ned’s memory to the St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Cemetery Fund or the Souris Hospital would be appreciated. To send an online condolence to the family please see below. The funeral for the late Edward Joseph “Ned” Crossman was held on Tuesday July 19, 2022, at St Peter’s Bay Roman Catholic Church, St. Peter’s Bay, with Father Brian MacDougall officiating. Laying the Pall were Bonnie and Gerry MacAulay, Wally Crossman and Scott Crossman. The first reading was read by Judy Morrison, while Emmalena MacDonald proclaimed the second reading. Judy Morrison also offered the prayers of intercession. Father MacDougall read the gospel and delivered the homily. The pallbearers consisted of Gerard Crossman, Glen MacAulay, Darren Crossman, Neville Warren, Jeff Crandall and Troy MacDonald. Honorary pallbearers were everyone in attendance. Flower Bearers were Tracy Warren, Susan Arsenault, Katie Campbell and Betty Crossman. Music was provided by Louise MacKinnon and the St. Peter’s Bay church choir singing, Processional, Only a Shadow; Psalm, The Lord is My Shepard; Preparation of gifts, Be Not Afraid; Communion, Come to the Water; Incensing, Songs of the Angels; and Recessional, How Great Thou Art. Interment was in the parish cemetery. The funeral was under the direction of North Shore Funeral Home, Morell.
