The death occurred on September 11, 2020 at the Kings County Memorial Hospital of Mary "Margaret" LaVie of Georgetown. Survived by her children, Marie LaVie, David (Melva) LaVie, Michael LaVie, and Robert (Denise) LaVie; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; her siblings, Ella David, Gladys Ann ( Frank) MacGillvrary, Laverne (Dan) Crowtz and Janie ( Ross) David-Dixon, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her children, Mary, Juliet, Kenneth and Wayne in infancy; her parents, Clarence and Janie David; her siblings, Louis, James, Chester and Reatha. Resting at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Georgetown, where private visitation and funeral mass will take place because of Covid 19 restrictions.

The funeral mass for the late Mary “Margaret” LaVie was held on Monday, September 14, 2020 at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Georgetown, with Father Tim Broderick officiating. Placing the pall were Brittany MacPhee, Lydia LaVie, Bella Walsh and Aby Walsh. The first reading was read by Kim MacNeill, while Krista Walsh proclaimed the second reading. Janie David Dixon offered the prayers of intercession. Father Broderick read the gospel and delivered the homily. The Pallbearers were David LaVie, Michael LaVie, Robert LaVie, Jody Walsh, Andrew Walsh and Lucas LaVie. Honorary pallbearers were everyone in attendance. Music was provided by Kevin Gotell and Claudia Batchilder singing, Processional, Be Not Afraid; Psalm, The Lord is My Shepherd; Communion, Come to the Water; Meditation, Gentle Woman; Incensing, Songs of the Angels; and the Recessional, How Great Thou Art. Interment was held at St.James Roman Catholic Cemetery, Georgetown. The funeral was under the direction of North Shore Funeral Home, Morell.
