Marion Lavers (nee Murphy) Obituary

The death occurred peacefully on January 14, 2023 at Kings County Memorial Hospital of Marion Lavers (nee Murphy) of Georgetown, aged 79. Survived by her children, Gordie Lavers and Lori-Ann MacDonald (Michael); her grandchildren, Morgan and Denver MacDonald; her siblings, Lawrence Murphy (Nancy), Helen MacIntyre (Joe), Pat Murphy (Donna), and Patsy Gotell (Perry). She will also be dearly missed by sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret Gallagher (Dale), Joan Lavers and Charles Yorston as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Gordon; her parents, Patrick and Clemetine Murphy; her children, Patsy and Patrick both in infancy, her special niece Lori Lyn Murphy; as well as members of the Lavers families. Resting at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Georgetown, for visitation on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 3 – 6 pm. Funeral mass to be held at the church on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at a later date. Memorial donations in Marion’s memory may be made to the Kings County Hospital, palliative care room. To send the family a condolence, please see below. The funeral for the late Marion Catherine Lavers (nee Murphy) was held on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Georgetown, with Father Kishore Kumar officiating. Laying the Pall were Patsy Gotell, Helen MacIntyre, and Pat Murphy. The first reading was read by Rob Murphy while Raylene Murphy proclaimed the second reading. Angela Baker offered the prayers of intercession. Father Kishore Kumar read the gospel and delivered the homily. The pallbearers consisted of Morgan MacDonald, Denver MacDonald, Patrick Murphy, Andy Murphy, Jody MacIntyre, and Sheldon Lavers. Honorary pallbearers included everyone in attendance. Flower Bearers were Chelsea Gotell, Ella MacIntyre, Jenna Gotell, Amanda Lavers, Dara Baker and Debbie Batchilder. Music was provided by St. James Choir with organist, Kevin Gotell, guitarist, Robbie LaVie, and drummer, Lewie Lavandier singing, Processional, In the Garden; Psalm, The Lord is My Shepherd; Preparation of gifts, How Great Thou Art; Communion, Come to the Water; Meditation, Gentle Woman; Incensing, Celtic Farwell; and Recessional, Lord of the Dance. Interment will take place at a later date in the parish cemetery. The funeral was under the direction of North Shore Funeral Home, Morell.
