1983 Islander of the Year
Peacefully at the Kings County Memorial Hospital on Saturday, January 28, 2012, of Margaret Quinn (nee Burton), of Cardigan, in her 88th year, beloved wife of the late John Quinn. Margaret was the loving mother of Theresa (Jay) Kenny, Gavin (Rose), John Michael, Jimmy (Debbie), David (Gladys) and Bobby; special friend of Cathy Quinn; and loving grandmother to 22 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Joseph (Catherine) Quinn and sisters-in-law Valerie MacDonald and Ethel Quinn. Predeceased by her parents, Harry and Dorothy (nee Holland) Burton of England, grandson Shawn Quinn, and brothers-and sister-in-law Bobby Quinn, Jerome Quinn, Danny MacDonald, and Rose (Malcolm) MacLeod. Resting at the MacMillan Room, All Saints Roman Catholic Church, Cardigan, for visitation on Monday, January 30, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a. m. on Tuesday, January 31, at All Saints Roman Catholic Church, Cardigan. Interment to follow in the parish cemetery. Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Cardigan Branch, will hold a service of remembrance at 6:40 p.m. on Monday. All Saints CWL will hold a service of remembrance at 6:50 p.m. on Monday. If desired, donations in Margaret=s memory may be made to the Mikinduri Children of Hope Foundation. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Hambly and doctors, nurses and staff of Kings County Memorial Hospital. Arrangements have been entrusted to the North Shore Funeral Home, Morell.
