It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret VandenBroek (Kelly) who passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home in Cardigan on March 13th, 2025. Born September 26th, 1961, the daughter of Mary (Curran) and the late George Kelly.
Soul mate to her husband Herman and loving mother to Ashley (Scott) Hipson, Lori (Félix) Séguin, Denise (Andrew) Rowe, Martin (Renee Robertson), and Jack (Petrea McLaughlin). The most loving Oma to Thomas and Luke (Hipson); Rose, Henri and Eva (Séguin); Oliver, Hannah, Stanley and Elliott (Rowe); Addison and Maria (VandenBroek); and Fletcher and Audrey (VandenBroek). Cherished daughter to Mary Kelly and devoted sister to Patrick (Patricia) Kelly, George Kelly, Sister Laura Kelly, Maureen (Brad) Mix, Danny (Gunay) Kelly, Mike (Arlene) Kelly, Grace Kelly, and John (Suzanne) Kelly. She will also be sadly missed by brothers and sisters-in-law Mary (Eric) Grant, Pauline (Roger) Kelly, Martina (Lester) MacDonald, Tony (Karen) VandenBroek, Ansy (Eddy) Donahoe, Rinnie (Adrian) Bradley, George (Julie) VandenBroek, Julianna (Dave) Boyd, and Chrissy (Brent) Riley; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as many close and dear friends.
Pre-deceased by father George (Kelly); brother Baby Lou (Kelly); parents-in-law Martin & Annie VandenBroek; and sister-in-law Judy Sigsworth.
To celebrate Margaret's life, visitation will be held on Sunday, March 16th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at All Saints Roman Catholic Church in Cardigan. Funeral mass will be held at the church on Monday, March 17th at 11:00 am. A reception will follow for immediate family members only.
In the spirit of Margaret’s lifelong generosity towards helping others please consider donating to the Canadian Blood Service as often as you can. Funeral
The funeral for the late Margaret Marie VandenBroek (Kelly) was held on Monday, March 17, 2025, at All Saints Roman Catholic Church, Cardigan, with Father Kishore Kumar officiating. Altar Server was Abby Perry. Lighting the pascal candle included Scott Hipson, Renee VandenBroek, and Petrea VandenBroek. Laying the Pall were Herman VandenBroek, Ashley Hipson, Lori Séguin, Denise Rowe, Martin VandenBroek and Jack VandenBroek. The first reading was read Jenny VandenBroek, Andrew Rowe proclaimed the second reading and Félix Séguin offered the prayers of intercession. Father Kishore Kumar read the gospel and delivered the homily. The pallbearers consisted of Brad Mix, Patrick Kelly, Mike Kelly, John Kelly, George Kelly and Danny Kelly. Honorary pallbearers included everyone in attendance. Flower Bearers were Thomas Hipson, Luke Hipson, Rose Séguin, Henri Séguin, Eva Séguin, Oliver Rowe, Hannah Rowe, Stanley Rowe, Elliot Rowe, Addison VandenBroek, Maria VandenBroek, Fletcher VandenBroke, and Audrey VandenBroek. Ushers were Tony VandenBroek and Benny Nabuurs. Eucharistic Minister for the celebration was Dianne Nabuurs. Attending in a body were the Cardigan Dirty Skirts and representatives from Morell Regional High School Class of 1980 and 1981. Music was provided by All Saints Parish Choir with organist, Marilyn Barrett, singing, Hail Mary, Gentle Woman, Heaven Needs a Hero, Coat of May Colors, Hallelujah, Go Rest High on That Mountain and Lord of the Dance. Interment was in the parish cemetery. The funeral was under the direction of North Shore Funeral Home, Morell.
