Louis MacInnis Obituary

The death occurred suddenly at his home in Morell, formerly of St. Peter’s Bay, of Louis Gerard MacInnis, aged 63.

Survived by his siblings Ronnie MacInnis, Daniel (Etta) MacInnis, Edna (Harold) Miller, and Edith (Lefty) Dunn; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  Predeceased by his parents, Claude and Celia (MacKinnon) MacInnis;  and by brothers, Brian and Arthur.

Resting at the Dr. Roddie Community Center, St. Peter’s Bay, with visitation on Sunday, August 24, 2025 from 5 – 8 p.m.   Funeral mass to be held at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, St. Peter’s Bay on Monday, August 25, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment in the parish cemetery.  Memorial donations in Louis’ memory would be appreciated and  may be made to the Eastern Kings Health Foundation for Addiction Services or to Kids Sport Prince Edward Island.

Louis lived a simple life. He was the third child of seven. Growing up, the 5 boys were a tight knit group who stuck together, except at home, where they could be typical brothers who rowed amongst themselves.

He was a great storyteller. There was no detail too small for his stories, and his animations made them all the funnier. He was fiercely competitive and loved sports, especially hockey. He had a passionate loyalty to the Habs and the Blue Jays. He believed in an honest day's work, he worked in the fishing, oil, and tobacco industries. Throughout his life, he always painted and recently he worked on the road. He was humble, kind and generous. He loved the sun, and would sit outside for hours listening to the radio and smoking cigarettes, much like his father had done.

Louis lived and worked in BC for 30 years. He recently moved back home to PEI in December 2023. He was happy to reconnect with the ocean, to go fishing and to get up to the Skunkhouse Beach. His family are grateful for the time they had with Louis to reconnect.
