The death occurred peacefully on September 01, 2021 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital of Leonard Joseph Gallant of Charlottetown, and formerly of West St. Peters in his 85th year. Survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Theresa (nee Peters) and his children, Richard Gallant (Paula) of Lower Sackville, NS and Sandra Pinto (William) of Brookfield, Connecticut. Also survived by his grandchildren, Liam Gallant, Tessa and Erin Pinto; by siblings, Joyce Shortread, and Lorraine Cere; sisters and brothers-in-law, Winnie Murphy-Cantelo (Raymond), Bernice MacPherson, Elaine O’Connor, Eldon Peters (Inez), Bernie Peters (Teresa), James Peters (Donna), Jack Peters (Margaret) and Hammond Peters (Karen); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Henry and May Gallant; his siblings, Eileen MacKenzie (Arnold), Marge Cere (Bill), Shirley Lloyd (John), Mary Jackson (Allen) and Sterling Gallant (Monique); and by brothers-in-law, Tommy Thornton, Bob Shortread, Raymond Cere, Greg Murphy, Henry MacDonald, Charlie MacPherson and Joe O’Connor. Resting at North Shore Funeral Home, where a private visitation will take place. Funeral mass to be held on Friday, September 03, 2021 at St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Stewart at 10:30 a.m. by invitation only. Interment in the parish cemetery. The funeral mass for the late Leonard Gallant was held on Friday, September 03, 2021 at St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Stewart, with Father John Lacey officiating. Altar Server was Tom Atkins. The readings were read by Pat Atkins and Estelle Coffin. Father Lacey read the gospel and delivered the homily. Honorary pallbearers were everyone in attendance. Music was provided by Arlene van Diepen singing, Processional, Here I Am Lord; Psalm, Psalm 23; Preparation of Gifts, Be Still and Know; Communion, Soul of My Savior; Incensing, Songs of the Angels; and the Recessional, Amazing Grace. Interment took place in the parish cemetery. The funeral was under the direction of North Shore Funeral Home, Morell.
