The death occurred peacefully at the Souris Hospital, with family by his side, on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, of Leigh Francis Squires of Five Houses, aged 71. Survived by his partner, Patricia Casey and family; half-sister and half-brothers Charlene, George, Sterling and Mike Acorn; aunts and uncles Vera (late Johnny) Ward, Imelda (late Willard) Squires, Phyllis (Wes) Stretch, Keir (Linda) Squires, and Jimmy (Alice) Squires. Leigh will also be fondly remembered by his cousin Stephen Squires and numerous other cousins. Pre-deceased by his mother, Melinda (Lynn) (nee Squires) Acorn; grandparents Nelson and Myra Squires; uncles and aunts Pearl (Richard) Hayden, Gladdie (Joan) Squires, Sterling (Edith) Squires, Elmer (Dottie) Squires, Willard Squires and Helen (Reuben) MacDonald. Leigh was an animal lover and an avid hockey fan, who loved being on the water as a fisherman. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private celebration will be held.
