The death occurred peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, with her family by her side, on January 28, 2021, of Joyce MacKinnon, formerly of St. Peter’s Bay, aged 81. Survived by her daughter, Bev MacLaren (Joe); her grandchildren, Mathew Bradley (Shannon), and Regi MacLaren; and great grandchildren, Rohen and Reece Bradley. Also survived by many life long friends including Arlene MacInnis and Doris MacKinnon as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Lil and Bill Milligan; her husband, Reg MacKinnon; by her children, Joey and Charlene MacKinnon; special friend, Russell Shepard; and by her siblings, Foster Milligan, Wyman Milligan, Elmer Milligan, Sterling Milligan, Charlie Milligan (Edna), Frank Milligan and Bernice Ramsay (Ernest); and by her sister-in-law, Bea (Bill) Sherry. Resting at North Shore Funeral Home, Morell. Due to covid regulations, visitation will be by invitation only. A private funeral Mass will be held Monday, February 01, 2021 at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, St. Peter’s Bay, at 11:00 a.m. Interment in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Joyce’s memory may be made to St. Peter’s Bay Cemetery Fund either directly, or by etransfer to northshorefuneralhome@gmail.com. The funeral mass for the late Josephine “Joyce” MacKinnon was held on Monday, February 01, 2021 at St. Peter’s Bay Roman Catholic Church, with Father Brain MacDougall officiating. Placing the pall were Bev MacLaren and Joe MacLaren. The first reading was read by Frances Milligan, while Grace Larkin proclaimed the second reading. Father Brian MacDougall read the gospel and delivered the homily. The Pallbearers were Matthew Bradley, Doug Milligan, Stephen Milligan, Ryan MacInnis, Philip Milligan and Bill Milligan. Honorary pallbearers consisted of everyone in attendance. Flower Bearers were Arlene MacInnis and Doris MacKinnon. Music was provided by Louise MacKinnon singing, Processional, Be Not Afraid; Psalm, The Lord is My Shepherd; Preparation of gifts, All that We Have; Communion, Come to the Water; Meditation, Hail Mary Gentle Woman; incensing, Songs of the Angels; and the Recessional, How Great Thou Art. Interment was held at St. Peter’s Bay Roman Catholic Church Cemetery. The funeral was under the direction of North Shore Funeral Home, Morell.
