The death occurred peacefully with his family by his side, at the Riverview Manor, on April 22, 2017, of JD Fitzpatrick formerly of Newport in his 95th year. Loving husband of the late Cecelia Reta Fitzpatrick, (nee Whalen), and dear father of Joey, Halifax, NS; Leona, Souris PE; Rick, Charlottetown, PE; and Darlene, (Garth Jay) Fanningbrook, PE. Also lovingly remembered by his nine grandchildren, Janine, Matthew (Amanda), Leon, Leah, Kyle, Kurtis, Anthony, Connor, and Nathan; his great grandchild, Mason; his sisters, Theresa Johnston, and Mary Christian; by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Edna and James MacLean, Jimmy and Ronelda Whalen and Richie Whalen; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his wife Cecelia, he was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Marie (Steele) Fitzpatrick, by his sisters, Gladys (in infancy) and Stella (Joe MacPherson; and by his brothers, Charles (Ann) and John. Resting at St. George’s Roman Catholic Church, St. George’s for visitation on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral mass to be held at the church on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 11 a.m. Interment in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations in JD’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of PEI. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to North Shore Funeral Home, Morell.
