The death occurred peacefully after an extensive illness, on January 16, 2016, of John Daniel “Dolph” MacIntyre of Goose River PE. Born on Father’s day 1929, he was the beloved Father of John MacIntyre and his wife Valerie of Alberta Canada, David MacIntyre and his wife Jacqueline and Daniel Macintyre and his wife Michelle all of Massachusetts, United States. Devoted Grandfather (a.k.a. Dad’s Dad) to Emily Macintyre and James Macintyre also of Massachusetts, United States. Survived by his sisters, Florence, Gladys and Marie, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Angus and Teresa: sisters, Teresa and Mary; brothers, Robert, Peter and Ronald (Jay). John was a U.S. Army veteran tank instructor, held a Massachusetts Real Estate salesman’s license, was co-founder of an East Boston based Construction Company that bore his name and was a member of the Massachusetts Carpenters Union. Retired from Public Works P.E.I. after many years in the Facilities department, John enjoyed serving the community at the Goose River Building (The Blueberry Building), Goose River, P.E.I. helping to host social events, weekly “Olde Tyme Dances” and card plays, his favorite. He enjoyed family and friends, nature and life on the Northside, travel and storytelling, antiquing and he couldn’t resist a good yard sale. Resting at the Dr. Roddie Community Center for visitation on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral to take place on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, St. Peter’s Bay. Interment in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are appreciated and can be made in John’s memory to St. Peter’s Bay Roman Catholic Church cemetery fund, to the Cancer Society or to help adults with autism to: Jumin, Inc.
