The death occurred peacefully at home with family on Monday, March 30, 2020, of John Albert Fitzpatrick of Newport, aged 85. Loving father of Ernie (Pam), of Newport and Barry (Janet) of Montague. Dear grandfather of Jason Fitzpatrick, Michael, Timothy and Adam Myers, and Chris Gillis (Daylene), as well as great grandfather of Declan. Also survived by sister-in-law, Mary Fitzpatrick, and numerous nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years, Joyce (nee Shepard) in 2017; his son, Winston; daughter, Darlene, and daughter-in-law, Joy. John was the last surviving member of the late Louis and Mary (MacCormack) Fitzpatrick, In addition to his parents he was predeceased by brothers, Billy Fitzpatrick, Raymond Fitzpatrick, Louis Fitzpatrick, Ernie Fitzpatrick, George Fitzpatrick; sisters, Alice Poelzer (Rod) and Gladys (in infancy), brothers-in-law, Sterling (in infancy), Tom (Florence and Margaret), Francis (Pauline), Heath (Pauline), and Gerald (Ruth); sisters-in-law, Phyllis (Murray) McQueen, and Marjorie Shepard (Nathan Acorn). Due to Covid-19, visitation and funeral mass will take place at a later date. If so desired, memorial donations in John's memory may be made to Kings County Memorial Hospital or to the PEI cancer society. The family would like to thank Dr. Christensen, Dr. Magennis, Dr. Ashe, the ER staff at Kings County Memorial Hospital, and EMS services.
