Joanne (Phelan) MacDonald

The death occurred at the Kings County Memorial Hospital on May 15, 2025 of Joanne MacDonald of Green Meadows aged 81.  Survived by her loving husband of 60 Years, Francis; her children, Stephen (Sue), Laurie Anne, and Peter; her grandchildren, Phelan (Lindsay) and Jillian (Brooke); as well as great grandchildren.  She will also be dearly missed by her siblings, Virginia, Cletus (Kathy), Laurena (David); sisters-in-law Lauretta MacAulay, and Barbara Anne Beades (Nicky);  as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

Predeceased by her parents, Mary and Peter Phelan; her parents-in-law, Ronnie and Gertie MacDonald; her daughter-in-law, Tracey MacDonald, and her siblings Owen Reginald and Lawrence Wayne in infancy; as well as brothers-in-law James MacAulay and Dunstan MacDonald.

Resting at North Shore Funeral Home, Morell, for visitation on Monday, May 19, 2025 from 5 – 8 pm.  Funeral mass will be held at St. Lawrence O’Toole Roman Catholic Church,  Green Meadows on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at 2:00 pm.  Interment in the parish cemetery.  Memorial donations in Joanne’s memory may be made to St. Lawrence O’Toole Roman Catholic Church Cemetery Fund.  Online condolences may be made directly to the family on our website www.northshorefuneralhome.ca 

The funeral for the late Joanne MacDonald was held on Tuesday, May 20,  2025 at St. Lawrence O’Toole Roman Catholic Church, Green Meadows with Father Blair Bernard officiating.  Laying the pall were Francis MacDonald, Stephen MacDonald, Laurie Anne MacDonald and Peter MacDonald. The first reading was read Maureen Evans, Edith MacDonald proclaimed the second reading and Cindy Byrnes offered the prayers of intercession.  Father Blair read the gospel and delivered the homily.  The pallbearers consisted of Gerald McCarthy, Gerard Byrnes, Anthony O'Brien, Bobby O'Brien, Ronnie MacAulay, Charley Sharkey, Jerome MacDonald and Peter van Diepen.   Honorary pallbearers were everyone in attendance.  Flower Bearers were Shannon McEachern, Mikaela McEachern, Phelan MacDonald, Jill MacDonald, Mary Catherine Compton, Carla MacAdam, and Marion Sperdakes.  Distributing the funeral bulletins were Shannon McEachern and Mikaela McEachern.  Lay distributor was Curly MacAdam.  Music was provided by Larry Phelan singing Processional, Here I am Lord: Psalm, The Lord is My Shepherd; Preparation of Gifts, Hail Queen of Heaven; Communion, With a Gentle Heart and Holy Ground; Meditation, Lady of Knock; Incensing, Songs of the Angels; and Recessional, On This Day O' Beautiful Mother.   Interment was in the parish cemetery.  The funeral was under the direction of North Shore Funeral Home, Morell.
