The death occurred at Souris Hospital of Ivan Leroy Birt, formerly of Pisquid, aged 56 years. Lovingly remembered by his daughter and son-in-law, Kerrie Ann and Kyler Sharpley; his Parents, Doreen (nee O’Brien) and the late Roy Birt; and siblings, Jan Sock (Darcy) and Perry Birt (Amy Lundrigan), as well as his special nieces, nephews and cousins. Ivan will also be dearly missed by his aunts and uncles, Louise Sheppard, Donnell O’Brien (Susan), Claude O’Brien (Nancy), Lloyd O’Brien (Jane), and Anthony O’Brien (Rose). Besides his father Roy, he was predeceased by his aunt, Joyce O’Brien, and uncle, Pat O’Brien. Resting at North Shore Funeral Home, Morell for visitation on Friday, April 21, 2023 from 5 – 8 p.m. Funeral service to be held at Mt. Stewart United Church, Mt. Stewart on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Interment in the People’s Cemetery, Mt. Stewart. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ivan’s memory to Bayview Lodge in Souris. The funeral for the late Ivan Leroy Birt was held on April 22, 2023, at St. John’s United Church in Mt. Stewart, with the Rev. T. Kevin Dingwell officiating who welcomed everyone to the service and read the scripture sentences. Words of remembrance were offered by Sterling Jay. The pallbearers consisted of Brett Birt, Darcy Sock Jr., Shannon MacKinnon, Glen MacKenzie, Albert Sheppard and James Sheppard. Honorary pallbearers included everyone in attendance. Flower Bearers consisted of Kassie Birt and Alana Martell. Music was provided by St. John’s United Church Choir with musician Shelly Morrison, singing Just a Closer Walk with Thee, The Old Rugged Cross and Amazing Grace. Interment took place in Peoples cemetery, Mt. Stewart The funeral was under the direction of North Shore Funeral Home, Morell.
