Peacefully and surrounded by his family, the death occurred at his home in Cardigan on September 11, 2008 of the Honourable W. Bennett Campbell, P.C., M.P., M.L.A, and Village Commissioner, age 65. Left to mourn his passing are his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Shirley (Chaisson) and eight children, Kelly (Keith) Somers, St. Georges, Colin (Angie), Leslieville, Alberta, Grant (Amy), Odessa, Ontario, Sherri (Corey) Fleming, St. Stephen, NB, Grace (Doug), Cardigan, Bradshaw (Sally), Charlottetown, Carmel, Calgary, Alberta, and John Paul, Cardigan. Also survived by ten grandchildren Harrison and Jack Bennett Somers of St. Georges, Jacob Joseph Campbell of Odessa, Ontario, Tanner and Shaye Margaret Fleming of St. Stephen, NB, Nadia and Nathan Campbell of Cardigan, Aliah, Kara Grace and Addison of Leslieville, Alberta and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father, Wilfred Laurier Campbell, his step father Neil Campbell, his mother and father-in-law, Margaret and Joseph Chaisson, and sister-in-law Mary Hughes. Survived by eight brothers, Cecil (Joanne), Clare (Linda), Kenny (Cindy), Gus (Diane), Gerard (Ann), Peter, Pat, Andy (Betty), two sisters Ann Marie (Stephan) Parent, Mary Elizabeth (Garth) Myers as well as his mother, Edith of Stratford. Remains resting at All Saints Parish Center, Cardigan for visiting hours on Saturday, September 13, 2008 from 7-9 p.m and Sunday, September 14, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Service of celebration and thanksgiving will take place on Monday, September 15, 2008 at All Saints Parish, Cardigan with funeral mass at 2:00 p.m. Interment in All Saints Parish Cemetery. A Legion Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. at All Saints Parish Center and all legion members are welcome. Donations in Bennett's memory may be made to All Saints Parish Cemetery Fund. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to the North Shore Funeral Home in Morell.
