With heavy hearts but with gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 of George Norbert MacPherson of Launching, aged 89, beloved husband of Noreen (Gardiner). Also survived by his children Gailyne, Colleen MacDonald, George (Roger), Anthony (Bruno), Bernie MacDonald (Cathy Anne) and Arnold Moore (Darlene); grandchildren Brett MacLean (Dometria), Morgan MacLean (Jenni), Cassie MacLean (Corey) and Jesse MacDonald (Shantal); great-grandchildren Meredith MacLean, Anna Mullett and Aliyah MacDonald; sisters Sister Sally MacPherson and Magdalen MacDonald; special friend, Keir Johnstone. Predeceased by his parents, George and Katie, his brothers Gerald (in infancy), John F., Donald and twin brother, Joseph, son-in-law Michael MacDonald, and granddaughter-in-law Lisa MacLean. There will be no visitation in accordance with Covid-19 restrictions. A private funeral (by invitation only) will be held at St. Georges Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 28 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. If desired, donations in memory of George to St. Georges Roman Catholic Cemetery Fund would be appreciated. The funeral mass for the late George Norbert MacPherson was held on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at St. George’s Roman Catholic Church, St. George’s, with Father Tim Broderick officiating. Laying the Pall were Colleen MacDonald and Anthony MacPherson. The first reading was read by Gailyne MacPherson, while George MacPherson proclaimed the second reading. Carol Caverley offered the prayers of intercession. Father Broderick read the gospel and delivered the homily. Honorary pallbearers were everyone in attendance. Pallbearers consisted of Bernie MacDonald, Brett MacLean, Cassie MacLean, Arnold Moore, Morgan MacLean, and Jesse MacDonald. Flower bearers were Gale Daley-Cranston, Linda Evans, Bill MacPherson and Carol Caverley. Music was provided by Claudia Batchilder singing: Processional, Be Not Afraid; Psalm, The Lord is My Shepherd; Communion, Only a Shadow; Incensing, Songs of the Angels; and the Recessional, On Eagles Wings. Interment took place in the parish Cemetery. The funeral was under the direction of North Shore Funeral Home, Morell.
