The death occurred at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 of Father Francis Phelan Aylward in his 98th year. Predeceased by his parents William and Catherine (nee Phelan) Aylward, his sister Winnifred Walsh, his brother and sister-in-law William and Elsie Aylward, his brothers John Aylward, Michael Aylward, Patrick Sinnott, Peter Sinnott and Clement Sinnott, his sisters Mary Aylward, Bridget Aylward, Ella May Aylward, Margaret Aylward, Alice Aylward, Clara Aylward, Fabiola Sinnott (Hogan), Ella Sinnott Reid and Mary Sinnott Hughes, his nieces Pat Blanchard, Ursula MacDonald, Norma Sinnott and Lorraine MacLellan and his nephews Cyril Sinnott, Ralph Sinnott, P.R. Sinnott and Clement Sinnott, . Father Aylward is survived by his nieces and nephews Eric Aylward, Owen Aylward, Katie Aylward, Mabel MacLellan, Mary Kelly, Rachel Green, Frances O'Connor, Paul MacDonald, Joseph Walsh, Marjorie Aurilio, Frances Letson and Jimmy MacDonald. Father Aylward will be sadly missed by his brother priests. Remains transferred from the North Shore Funeral Home, Morell to St. Dunstan's Basilica where they will lie in state for visitation on Friday, February 22, 2008 from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Dunstan's Basilica, Charlottetown on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at a later date in St. Lawrence O'Toole Roman Catholic Church Cemetery, Green Meadows.
