The death occurred peacefully on November 24, 2022 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital of Ernie Davey of Stratford, formerly of Elliotvale, aged 75. Survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Therese (Gill); his sons, Chris (Sherri Doiron), Mark (Shari MacPhee), and Paul (Leanne); his grandchildren, Ella and Ava Davey, and Audrey and Logan Dobson Davey. Also survived by brothers- and sisters-in-law, Elaine Davey, Patricia Davey, Clara Zamagni (Bob), Margaret Proctor (Earl), Leona Beagan, Billy Gill (Margaret), Sheila Hayden (John), Geri Gallant (Richard), Leo Gill (Cathy), Freda Avery, Bernadette MacInnis (George), and Helen Gill (David Sanderson). Dearly remembered by godchildren, Sonya McCaughy and Stephanie Davey and by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and members of his AA family. Predeceased by parents, Jim and Annie (Doiron) Davey; parents-in-law, Bill and Helen (O’Connor) Gill; his siblings, Marguerite Marshall (Ken), Lester Davey (in infancy), Agnes MacGregor (Rollie), Marie Fobert (Gilbert), Arthur Davey (In infancy), Myrtle Davey (in infancy), Bobby Davey (Dora), and Ricky Davey. Also predeceased by brothers-in-law, Mike Beagan, and Brian Avery, as well as nephew Doug Davey. Resting at St. Cuthbert’s Roman Catholic Church, St. Teresa, for visitation on Sunday, November 27, 2022 from 2 – 4 pm and 7 – 9 pm. Funeral mass to be held at the church on Monday, November 28, 2022 at 10:30 am. Interment in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, (family flowers only, please) memorial donations may be made to St. Cuthbert’s Church landscaping fund. The funeral for the late James Ernest “Ernie” Davey was held on Monday, November 28, 2022, at St. Cuthbert’s Roman Catholic Church, St. Teresa, with Father Danny Wilson officiating. Laying the Pall were Therese, Chris, Mark and Paul Davey. The first reading was read by Stephanie Davey, while Shirley Fobert proclaimed the second reading. Pamela Walsh offered the prayers of intercession. Father Wilson read the gospel and delivered the homily. The pallbearers consisted of Wayne Davey, Scott Davey, Shawn Davey, Fred Affleck, Jerry Adams and Daniel Archambault. Honorary pallbearers included Elphege (ET) Theriault, Frenchie Doiron, Larry Watson and John Ellis. Flower Bearers were Karen Adams, Elaine Davey, Ann Pineau, Chelsey Adams, and Keila Nunn. Eucharistic ministers were Brenda Davey and Kimberly Affleck. Attending in a body were AA members. Music was provided by St. Cuthbert’s Church Choir with organist, Michelle MacDonald and director, Mary Trainor singing, Processional, God Gives His People Strength; Psalm, The Lord is My Shepherd; Preparation of gifts, Peace is Flowing Like a River; Communion, Peace Prayer; Incensing, Songs of the Angels; Meditation, One Day at a Time; and Recessional, We Shall Go Out. Interment was in the parish cemetery. The funeral was under the direction of North Shore Funeral Home, Morell.
