Edgar “Eddie” Hawbolt Obituary

Peacefully at home, the death occurred on February 12, 2023 of Edgar “Eddie” Gillis Hawbolt of Morell, aged 91.  Eddie proudly served in the 8th Canadian Hussars (Princess Louise)  regiment of the Canadian Armed Forces before returning to Morell and a career as a commercial fisherman.  Survived by his partner, Linda Lutz; his daughter, Edith Hawbolt;  his son, Kent Hawbolt; as well as his grandchildren, Dante, Addison, Stephanie, Sarah, Daniel, Rosalie, Lisa, Anita; his great grandchildren, Bentley, Eli, Ethan, Khloe, Jessie, Keiran, Connor and Quinn.  Sadly missed by Linda’s children, Joey (LaurieAnn), Kelly (Jeff), Derek (Melissa) and her grandchildren, Kendall, AnnaMae, Gage and Emily as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his wife Mary; his parents, Margaret and Edgar, his daughter, Linda; son, Robert (in infancy), Son-in-law, Joe Donovan; sisters, Florrie (Billy), Pearl, Betty (Art), Ada (Fred) and Anne; and by brothers, Bert (Eileen) and George. A memorial service will take place on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at North Shore Funeral Home in Morell.  Interment will take place at a later date in Midgell Cemetery.  If desired memorial donations in Eddie’s Memory may be made to the Midgell and Marie Cemetery Fund by e-transfer to mmcemeteries@gmail.com or by cheque payable to Midgell and Marie Cemeteries, c/o Susan Anderson, 162 Anderson Road, St. Peter’s, PE  C0A 2A0. The funeral for the late Edgar “Eddie” Gillis Hawbolt was held on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at North Shore Funeral Home, Morell , with the Rev. T. Kevin Dingwell officiating. The urn bearer was Kent Hawbolt. Honorary pallbearers included everyone in attendance. Words of remembrance were offered by Maj (ret’d) Earl J. MacDonald. Readings were offered by Angie Laybolt, while a poem was recited by Stephanie Marshall. Music was provided by Jacinta MacDonald singing How Great Thou Art, A picture of Me Without You, and Go Rest High on the Mountain. Interment will take place at a later date at Midgell cemetery. The funeral was under the direction of North Shore Funeral Home, Morell.
