Peacefully at Souris Hospital surrounded by his family on September 28, 2022, the death occurred of Desi O’Hanley of St. Peter’s Bay in his 87th year. Survived by his sister Bernie (the late Jackie Lewis); sister-in-law, Pauline (the late B.J. O’Hanley); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his parents, Mary Jane and Boniface O’Hanley; by sisters, May (Jack MacDonald), Kit (Harold Thompson), Peg (Jack Rossiter); and by brothers, Henry, Eugene, B.J., and Emmett O’Hanley. Resting at the Dr. Roddie Community Center, St. Peter’s Bay for visitation on Tuesday, October 04, 2022 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. Funeral mass to be held at St. Peter’s Bay Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 05, 2022 at 2:00 pm. Interment in the parish cemetery. The funeral for the late Desi O’Hanley was held on Wednesday, October 05, 2022, at St.Peter’s Bay Roman Catholic Church, St. Peter’s Bay, with Father Brian MacDougall officiating. The first reading was read by Cathy Thompson MacKinnon, while Mary Rose Connolly proclaimed the second reading. Megan Lewis offered the prayers of intercession. Father MacDougall read the gospel and delivered the homily. The pallbearers consisted of Dean Lewis, Donnie MacDonald, Robbie Thompson, Pat Rossiter, Frankie O’Hanley, and Jeremy Lewis. Honorary pallbearers included everyone in attendance. Eucharistic Minister was Sheryl O’Hanley. Music was provided by Louise MacKinnon singing, Processional, Be Not Afraid; Psalm, The Lord is My Shepherd; Preparation of gifts, I Will Never Forget You My People; Communion, Hail Mary, Gentle Woman; Incensing, Songs of the Angels; and Recessional, How Great Thou Art. Interment was in the parish cemetery. The funeral was under the direction of North Shore Funeral Home, Morell.
