With saddened hearts, we announce the passing of Christine Marie MacDonald “Diddy” of St. Peter’s Bay aged 71 on July 10, 2022. Loving mother to Tracy MacDonald (Nick Byrne) and Jeremy MacDonald (Jennifer LaPierre); cherished nanny to Josh MacDonald and Eva MacDonald, as well as great grandmother to Teighan Shoemaker and Quinn MacDonald. Also survived by her siblings, Gerry Laybolt (Gloria), Teresa “Tiggy” MacDonald, Loretta “Letty” MacDonald (Wayne MacDonald) and Venilda “Shinny” MacFarlane (Rick); the father of her children, Donnie MacDonald; as well as extended MacDonald family members; sister-in-law, Louise Laybolt; brother-in-law, Freddie Anderson; nieces, nephews and friends – especially Christine’s manor crew. Predeceased by her parents, John and Evelyn Laybolt; her brother, St. Clair Laybolt; sisters, Louise Anderson and Bernice O’Brien; brothers-in-law, Chester MacDonald, Ronnie MacDonald and John MacDonald. Resting at North Shore Funeral Home, Morell, for visitation on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 from 5 – 8 pm. Funeral mass to be held at St. Peter’s Bay Roman Catholic Church, St. Peter’s Bay, on Friday, July 15, 2022 at 2:00 pm. Interment in the parish cemetery. If desired, memorial donations in Christine’s memory may be made to Provincial Palliative Care, or to St. Peter’s Bay Roman Catholic cemetery fund. The funeral for the late Christine Marie MacDonald was held on Friday, July 15, 2022, at St Peter’s Bay Roman Catholic Church, St. Peter’s Bay, with Father Brian MacDougall officiating. The Urn bearer was Josh MacDonald. The first reading was read by Linda Savoie, while Gloria Laybolt proclaimed the second reading. Cathy MacKinnon offered the prayers of intercession. Father MacDougall read the gospel and delivered the homily. The pallbearers consisted of Ricky MacFarlane, Jason Laybolt, Keir Anderson, Jarod Laybolt, Jimmy MacDonald and Leslie MacDonald. Honorary pallbearers were Christine’s Manor Crew. Flower Bearers were Eva MacDonald, Teighan Shoemaker, Quinn MacDonald, Emily White, Vanessa Laybolt, and Joelyne Taylor. Eucharistic Minister was Maureen Evans. Music was provided by Frank Whitty singing, Processional, How Great Thou Art; Psalm, Alleluia; Preparation of gifts, Be Not Afraid; Communion, In the Garden; Incensing, Songs of the Angels; and Recessional, Stroll Over Heaven. Interment was in the parish cemetery. The funeral was under the direction of North Shore Funeral Home, Morell.
