The death occurred at the Prince Edward Home on Monday, August 27, 2012, of Burton Maurice Reginald Weir of Charlottetown in his 70th year. Survived by his wife, Pat (nee Smith), formerly of St. Teresa's, his children, Bert (Virginia) Weir of Stratford, Tanya Knudson (Chris Ahern) of Summerside, Nancy Carter (Joe) of Nova Scotia, as well as his Stepdaughter, Paula McKenna-Melvin (Bill) of St. Teresa's. Also survived by his grandchildren, Brandon and Brett Weir, Brittany and Nicholas Knudson, Alecia and Shaun Carter, and Madison and Abbi-Jo Melvin, his brothers; Jack Weir (Rosaleen) of Ontario, Gordon (Bus) Porter (Sarah) of Charlottetown, and John Weir (Dawn) of Ontario, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Albert and Mary (nee Faulkner) Weir. At the request of the family, there will be no visitation but all are welcome to attend the funeral mass to be held at St. Cuthbert's Roman Catholic Church, St. Teresa's, on Friday, August 31, 2012 at 10:00 am. Memorial donations can be made in Burt's memory if desired, to the PEI Cancer Society, or the PEI Humane Society. Arrangements entrusted to North Shore Funeral Home, Morell.
