Peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on June 14, 2022 of Bernadette “Bernie” Geldert, formerly of Morell aged 77. Survived by her children, Kevin MacKinnon (Sheila), Emmett MacKinnon (Shelley-Lynn), Paul MacKinnon, Mary Leah Laybolt (Blaine), Nancy Geldert (Dennis Garrett), and St. Clair Geldert (Gean). Loving grandmother to Tyler, Jacob, Isaac, Emma, Jacey, Chloe, Lily, Hayden, Hailey, Bree, Jayden, and great grandchild, Blaize. Also survived by siblings, Hank McInnis, Betty Bambrick (Francis) and Emmett McInnis (Lorna); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Joe and Loretta McInnis; her husbands, Hugh MacKinnon and Donald Geldert; her siblings, Theresa Runnighan (Leonard), and Albert Wilson (Rita); as well as nieces and nephews, Joey Wilson, Gerard Bambrick, Anita Bambrick, Mary (Wilson) Nicholson, and Virginia”Ginny” (Wilson) Campbell. There will be no visitation by personal request. Funeral mass will take place at St. Theresa, The Little Flower Roman Catholic Church on Friday, June 17, 2022 at 2:00 pm. Interment in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations in Bernie’s memory may be made to Alzheimer Society of PEI either directly or by e-transfer to northshorefuneralhome@gmail.com. The funeral for the late Bernadette “Bernie” Geldert was held on Friday, June 17, 2022, at St Theresa, The Little Flower Roman Catholic Church, Morell, with Father Danny Wilson officiating. The urnbearers were Emmett MacKinnon, Kevin MacKinnon and Paul MacKinnon. The first reading was read by Emma Higginbothom while Wanda Martin proclaimed the second reading. Barb Blaisdell offered the prayers of intercession. Father Wilson read the gospel and delivered the homily. Flower Bearers were Chloe MacKinnon, Bree Laybolt, Hayden Laybolt, Hailey Laybolt, and Isaac McKillop. Music was provided by Jacinta MacDonald singing, Processional, Amazing Grace; Psalm, Psalm 23; Preparation of gifts, Hail Mary, Gentle Woman; Communion, Bread of Life; Incensing, Songs of the Angels; and Recessional, Will the Circle be Unbroken and I’ll Fly Away. Interment was in the parish cemetery. The funeral was under the direction of North Shore Funeral Home, Morell.
