Anita Burke

The death occurred at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on December 23, 2016, surrounded by her family, of Anita Burke (nee Gotell), of Cardigan, aged 72. Anita was the loving mother of Eric (Sherry) Burke, Thomas (Amanda) Burke, and Peggy (Dave) McBride; special friend of James O’Brien; and beloved grandmother of Heather, Kevin and Carlee Burke. Sadly missed by furry companion, Petey. Also survived by sister Joyce Shannon, Florida, brother-in-law Cecil Murl, sister-in-law Carrie Belanger, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by her husband Clayton Burke (Hank Slush); her parents Forden and Josephine Gotell; her sisters Lynn (Jimmy) Goggins, Marie (Ralph) Pratt, and Ester Ryan; mother- and father-in-law Margaret and Thomas Burke; sisters-in-law Jean Murl and Mae O’Brien; and brother-in-law Sterling Burke. No visitation or funeral service by personal request. If desired, donations in Anita’s memory to the PEI Lung Association or the PEI Humane Society would be appreciated.
